Subject: Daytime Running Lights? IP: Logged
Message: I am the very proud owner of a 2001 CC SLT+ 4x4 3.9. I was wondering why Dodge doesn't put daytime running lights on our trucks? They are about the only company I know that doesn't put these on their trucks. Do the Rams have them? I really do think they improve visibility and probably save lives. Hell, everyone is Canada MUST have them and soon I think every car made in the US will have them, Dodge seems to be behind the ball on this one.

P.S. Does anyone know of a company that makes a kit to make our lights or fog lights daytime running?

Message: Bill, I gotta go against ya with this one. Personally I'm glad that Dodge doesn't put DRL on any of it's U.S. vehicles. I can't stand them and think they are more of an annoyance than anything. Has anyone PROVED that they have saved lives with some facts and figures? Doubt it. I don't think that Dodge is behind the ball. I think that they are smart and know that there isn't any real proof that DRL do anything except to burn out headlights (yes, I know they are only running at about 50%) prematurely and piss people off. Notice that Ford hasn't gone to them either?
That's my opinion, for what it's worth.

Message: Gary,
I respect and understand your opinion. I should have been more clear in what I said. I agree there probably isn't too much evidence that the headlights prevent accidents, but to ME i notice cars a lot more during the day when they have the daytime runners. I guess we will just have to wait and see what the future holds for the DTR systems.

Message: I agree with both of you, I like DRL than I dont. I had them on my Chevys when I had the Chevy trucks, I pulled the fuses on them, but the 2000 S-10 you couldn't pull no fuse so I had to live with it, for some people DRL is great but for most others it Sucks!. I am glad Dodge does not do this also. But there are Companys who make and sell the DRL kit I have seen this stuff in Truckin magazine, it is easy to install. just have to find them. try typing in Daytime running lamps in Yahoo. see what happens.

Message: Count me as another vote against DRL. Originally a safety feature for motorcycles, use on other vehicles waters down this protection.
