Subject: Truckin BS! IP: Logged
Message: For anyone who has seen the april issue of
Truckin recall the flamed dakota r/t. He makes
a few claims that I have a hard time beleiving.
First he says the truck is dropped 3/5.
Although it sits pretty high.
He also says the 360 puts out about 375HP
and 500ft/lb
Its mods are a comp cam, mopar pcm, accel
coil and distributor, headers and exhaust.
Is any of this possible? am I just being hard?

Message: If you take away programming limitations from this equation it is easily possable9(sp). It is not hard to get 1hp per cubic inch with normal aspiration.

Message: yes 375hp and 400lbs of torque not 500 though. I would have to know the exact combo but a true 375 is harder to achive than most people think.

Message: The article doesn't say anything about head work or a rebuild. I was also wandering don't all R/Ts come standard with limited slip rear diffs and 3.92. As for the horsepower gains I have all he has except the cam, but I have a powerdyne at 6lbs. and only made 305 on my last dyno run. That makes it about 366hp with standard 20% driveline loss. He made more power than me with less money, man I'm jealous!!

Message: There are a few suspect details in that article. The 3.92 gears are standard, the mods shouldn't add up to anywhere near that much hp/torque, etc...
Frankly I'm amazed that a Dakota made it into Truckin' magazine to begin with, they're notoriously pro-chevy. We had around 20-25 Dakota R/T's at the Truckin' Nationals, easily the biggest group of people at the entire event, yet there isn't a single picture or mention of us in either Truckin', Truckin' on the web, or Sport Truck magazine, even though a number of people were pulling consistant 12-second runs. There is a single picture of a V6 Dakota which was on the show side of the house which was only mildly modified. The only pictures from the racing side are of the chevys that showed up and maybe ran a handful of times at most before retiring to the pits for the weekend (and aside from the race-prepped oldie big-block trucks and that one 80's yellow blazer, they were SLOW).

Message: That truck isn't bad, but i'm not such a fan of the soft tonneu and that ricey spoiler or the tailgate airbrushing, but the airbrushing on the door panel kinda looked cool.

Message: Chevy Truckin is what thet should call it.The only reason the mildly v-6 dak made it was because it came from the same shop as the sliced apple chopped top chevy.
