I got into my truck today after it had been parked in a parking lot for about 5 days. Started up and it really sounded weird. It was revving my itself (varying from normal by about 300 RPM and then going back to normal for a second before revving again). I went to put it in gear and noticed I could barely move the brake pedal. I managed to get it in gear started backing up and noticed I could barely get the pedal down far enough to stop it from an idle. I knew I wasn't about to take it on the road so I drove around the lot thinking it would cure itself after a second. It didn't! Long story short, I called Roadside assistance and they came and towed it to the local dealership wear it will sit until they work on it monday :(. ANyone got any ideas of what is wrong? It is a 2001 CC 4x4 3.9 with 11,500 miles.

The guy who came and towed it said he thought a line had slipped off. It worries me that something like that would happen. Could something like that happen as I am driving down the street? If so, I thank god it happened while in a parking lot just sitting there. THanks.

If you loose vacuum to power bake booster on the street just step on pedal harder - they still work, you just have a much harder pedal. You'll see the same thing when people stall a car with power steering - they lose the power assist and freak out, thinking they lost their steering. Seen this a lot pushing disabled cars off the highway.

After doing a little more thinking, I think it must have been a vacuum line that came off and took out the Power Assist for the brakes. I sure wouldn't want it happening at speed though, I was almost standing with all my weight on the pedal just to get it to stop from an idle, I certainly wouldn't be able to stop for an emergency stop if it happened and someone pulled out in front of me! The bad thing is the damn service dept. isn't open again till Monday so it will probably be Tues. or Wed. before I get my truck back :(

Thanks for all the input.
