Subject: 97 Check Engine IP: Logged
Message: 58,000 miles, check engine just popped on, reset the pcm. Went off, came back on 80 miles later, I wasnt able to code it with the key, its a 1997 3.9. Do you do the on/off/on/off/on rapidly or normal pace? Able to do it on this one.?? Runs great, anyone have this experience were it runs great, but what is causing this? Any ideas? Thanks

Message: I have had the same problem. The computer is set to go off at certain intervals to keep you thinking about service. Dont unplug your battery, that just resets your memory. All you have to do is turn the key to the ON position, dont start it. Let it sit for a minute or two, your odometer will read off a code, press the trip reset button for the next code and on and on. The last code will be 55, that means no more codes. There are a few web sites that list trouble codes, I cant think of any right now. Good luck, Dave.
