Subject: Fuel Door Indicator??? IP: Logged
Message: My 99 CC has a spot on the instrument cluster that says "Fuel Door" with a little arrow head next to it. Maybe mine never worked or I don't have the option but it never indicates when the door is open? Anyone ever notice this? I have to also mention that I have 5Ok on this truck and I just thought to actually look yesterday due to the fact that normally when the door is open the truck is off because I'm getting gas.

Message: The fuel door indicator is just to show the driver which side of the truck the fuel door is on.

Message: You know...if thats what thats really for, which I'm sure you are right as nothing else makes sense, then Dodge needs to give their engineers some more direction on which things to spend time on. With all the problems these trucks have, taking the time to put a truly useless thing like that on the truck seems kind of silly to me.

Message: Actually I like that little arrow. My job has a fair amount of traveling and I am in more rental cars than I care to think about. That little arrow helps when you are in different cars all the time. Really pisses me off when I pull up to a pump, get out and the realize the door is on the other side.

Message: Never heard anyone complain before about that little arrow, but whatever. Yeah, I'm sure the engineers spent thousands of hours on that. It was probably a customer suggestion.
Chrysler isn't the only one that has that arrow. My sister's Mustang has one too.

Message: I wasn't didn't mean to complain so harshly...just thought that it seemed a little weird to waste the time on that. And no I'm sure it didn't take long to engineer, but anyone that has experience with production lines and things of that nature knows that there is a lot more to it than it would seem. But I can see the virtue of it for people that drive many different vehicles on a regular basis.
