Subject: Got to be kidding... IP: Logged
Message: I called my Dodge dealer's service department for a quote on routine trani service and brakes (front/back) for my 2000 Dodge Dakota.
$100 for Trani service and $400 for brakes. I think that's simply insane, especially $200 an axle for Brakes. I can't imagine the work needed to change pads and turn the rotors/drums amounts to that kind of bill.
My kingdom for a personal mechanic who could do this for a more reasonable price, or that I could feel a little more confident in my abilities as a mechanic myself...
Regards,
David

Message: Ya well I was going to go in for the 21000 service. 830 bucks. Ya right. I went somewhere else.

Message: I think that Dodge was going to install the platinum, diamond-encrusted brake pads...thus the $400 fee. :) I have learned NEVER to go to the dealer for 'routine' maintenance.
