Subject: Anyone ever have injector probs? IP: Logged
Message: After all these years my truck is finally going to sh%$. A couple of months ago I replaced the fuel pump,O2 sensors,IAT sensor n adjuster,PCV valve, plugs cap n rotor and wires, and added the intake and exhaust mods. Also ported the TB, cleaned the idle selinoid, and adjusted the TPS .76VDC It has been running super strong since then but has had terrible gas milage. Now it started running realy rough at idle and through the RPM range. Like its misfiring. I have a strong fuel smell coming from the exhaust pipe as well with an occasional backfire. Would bad injectors cause these type of symptoms. We have checked the plugs and wires and have good spark. The resistance at each injector is 14.9 holmes but one or two may be stuck open. What The F*&@. Any Help????
Its a 96 3.9 with 90K on it

Message: ya, that sounds exactly like my truck (97 v6) used to....the "dealer" said it was injectors, and wanted $700 bucks to replace them - i said no way.
i bought FMS 19# injectors for $200, replaced them myself and it still ran like crap.
i then peeked under the cap and rotor (only 6 months old), and found out that the spark actually disintigrated the cap around the contacts, and the contacts were crudded up...
replaced the cap and rotor and no problems ever since.
i have the stock ignition system, in case youre wondering.

Message: I thought of that to and replaced the cap n rotor again tonight, still the same. I will be purchasing the FMS injectors this week and will see what that does. I just hope it isnt the PCM. I do not have a dealer here in Sicily I can take it to either.
