Subject: fluid change ? IP: Logged
Message: its about that time for me to change the fluid in the front and rear transfer case. How hard is it gonna be before i get myself into a mess.

Message: Do you REALLY have 2 xfer cases? I think not.
There is a front and rear DIFFERENTIAL and a center xfer case. All 3 of these should get fluid changes at regular intervals.
The xfer case has a drain plug and a fill plug... pretty standard stuff.
The differentials have ONLY a fill plug. To propery drain them, the cover should be pulled and the interiear gears should be "rinsed off" using approprate material. An LSD needs special "friction modifier" added to the mix.
Do not forget that the TRANSMISSION needs its fluid changed too. This is BY FAR more important than the other 3 items mentioned above.
