Subject: body side moulding question IP: Logged
Message: My new QC arrived with factory installed side moulding. The side molding does not match the moulding on the other Dakotas. About 3 inches of the front door moulding, and 3 inches of the rear door molding is about 1/8 inch away from the door. It seems as if these areas are not attached to the body where the moulding becomes a point. What goes? Is this a defect? Seems like the moulding could easily get caught and torn off. By the way, I have not accepted the truck yet since a mechanic chipped a bit of paint off the door edge. I am waiting for it to be repaired firts.

Message: DavidNC;
I have a '01 CC and the dealer did the moulding and mine don't "pull away" from the body at all. I've taken the beast through at least a dozen car washes and never had any lift of the mouldings or any debris stuck in them.

Message: bigdakota87,
Your truck looks great, but I haven't seen it around. I'm on the Graham side. I will say hi if I see you.
I am going to talk to the dealer about the molding this afternoon when I visit to discuss the paint chip repair. If anyone else has any ideas, please pass them on to me.
Take care

Message: well, maybe you could dab you a few spots of JB Weld Compound on there, that would probaly fix it. take it back to the dealer to see if they will help you any. Be careful if you use the JB not to get any on the paint where you dont want it.
Hey man, thank ya. What color is ur QC? 4x4?? Ill TTYL see ya David.

Message: I called Dodge, after receiving the feedback to this post that led me to believe that the moulding ends were wrong. Dodge confirmed that it was wrong, and that the dealer should have picked up on it and corrected it. No problem with getting it repaired, just pointed it out to the dealer and they agreed to replace the moulding before I accept the truck. Don't know why it happened, but the sales guy has seen it once before.
