I have a 00 QC 4X4 with the 3.9. I believe it has the 42RE transmission. My question is that it sometimes hangs up or does not want to shift from 2nd to third without letting off of the gas pedal. Of course the local Dodge dealership told me this is normal. Any easy fixes for this ? I have read about the TV cable adjustment and was wondering if this could be the cause of my problems. I also was wondering if anyone knows of a shift kit for this transmission? I am not sure its the 42RE, but I believe that is the only auto option for the 3.9 . Thanks in advance for all your help.

My 98 5.2 did this until I took it in for a complete flush and filter change of the tranny. That sticky shifting stopped.

I just had this problem fixed. Mine was from 1st to 2nd shifts. I took mine to a shop. They said the line pressure was to high. They dropped the pan and lowered the pressure on the valve body and it is perfect now. Try adjusting your TV cable to see if that helps. I also had my tranny flushed and it did not fix the problem as FYI.
