Hehe... I love the "if you open a hood on a Dakota you'll find 'made in Tawain'" post... well... -duh- name one vehical you won't find that on at least one part. Not Chevy thats for sure! BTW, all I'm finding is 'Made in Canada', where Trucks are Trucks, Beer is Beer, and Snow is cold as hell! Tawain, where people are short (explains why I can't fit in an S10 comfertable), roads are crowded (explains why they are so small!), and no one really -needs- a truck! (Explains why they suck as that)!
Dude, leave the Slow-halftons alone, ok? Just back away from them nodding politely... thats their 'happy place'...

Being an ex-Chevy owner...and knowing a person (local buddy) who drive a lightly modified xTreme...don't underestimate them. ;)
While in stock form they are slower...light modifications wake them right up.

i know, i have a friend with a 94 s10 that has k&n intake and flowmaster exhaust, and ive never actually witnessed it but supposedly its pretty damn fast. 185 hp stock and it only weighs 2700 lbs!!!

I'd agree with the whole power to ratio thing...when you have an engine that has a few more horses, .4 more liters, and it's installed in a truck that weighs at least 500 lbs less than a Dakota, it would be faster. Doesn't mean that Chevy's are BETTER, though. I used to own an S-10. That's why I traded it in towards a Dakota. :-)

No truck is better than another in my opinion...they all have their good and bad sides.
"Bernd" is the correct spelling of my first name...it's very german. (I speak/read/write in german as well.)

I've heard of LT1 engines in C1500s and such, but I mean, an s-10? Why? At least the 1500s look nice, the S-10 is ugly as hell, I can't even stand to look at those trucks. Eeew. An LT1 or LS1 in an S-10 with tranny swap and whatever else, does NOT make it an S-10 anymore, it make sit a Camaro with an sh!tty frame.

first off you are compairing a VERRY modded s10 (yes i consider a V8 transplant VERRY modded) to a bone stock R/T. YEA, THATS A FAIR MATCH.
if you mod a R/T, it will spank a V8 s10. (the LT1's were 285hp in the camaro and mid 300's in the vett)
go to blackdakrt.com and look around. scott q's R/T should be at 500+ hp at the wheels. when i talked to him (before the cam and heads) he had already beat a C5 vett. and there are N/A R/T's in the low 13's, and some others with blowers or NOS in the 12's.
since the LT1, and LS1 are performance engines, i guess it would be fair to take out the 360, and install a 426 hemi.
remember the hot rod mag. dakota with the 528 hemi? bring on the s10's!!....or vetts ect. ;-)

I like the Tacomas look, but inside it felt like crap. The '90 4Runner my family owns feels WAY better than a brand new Tacomas. I was thinking, what the f**k!? This sucks! in one damn decade, they still can't move that damn clock from behind the sterring wheel, that is pathetic. It also wasn't fast enough and was more in insurance and more in cost for something less than a Dakota.

i doubt someone who took the time to drop a 350 in an s10 would only be getting 285 hp from it

Those brand new Maximas and Altimas are supposed to be pretty fast. I think the new 2002 Altima was rated at like 14.74 in the 1/4 mi. The other years are like 17-16 seconds. I dunno what the hell happened, but that's pretty damn fast for a stock lower end model car.
My snow tires kick ass too, they provide better traction than the stock tires. I should try to keep them on all year.
