Message: I have been told it is normal for my clutch, to be somewhat sticky when shifting from a stop into first, that the gears don't mesh perfectly. Causing it to be slightly difficult, and not as smooth to put into gear. I remember it used to be eaiser to do. Any ideas. Just kinda bugs me its not as smooth as I remember.
4x4 by the way.

Message: Nick, check the fluid level. If you have the NV3500 5 spd, it takes a 17mm allen head so go to Sears first and spend 6 bucks on one before crawling under. The fluid was old and low. I had found that I have a small leak between tranny and T-case so when I had my T-case rebuilt recently, had the shop fix the leak and fill the tranny with synthetic 10W-30. It works great again. Sometimes there is a little resistance, particularly if I compression brake for a while. When that happens, I release the clutch while in neutral, then engage it again and it goes in smoothly. If you are rolling (under 3-4 mph), don't force it in, there is enough torque that I start in 2d gear.
