Subject: Dual Exhaust IP: Logged
Message: What is the best dual exhaust system to put
on a 93 dakota with a 3.9. I want to know the
best sound and the best performance system
to use and how can I get it. I looked at a
cat-back system featured in the jc whitney
catalog but it don't tell the brand. Has anyone
heard of or have the system

Message: Which system are you looking at in JC? I bought a dual system ($129 w/ glass packed mufflers) for my old Ford truck and it was pretty quality stuff and the local muffler shop installed it for $80.
The systems are not that easy to change out so you may want to go ahead and let the pros handle it.
BTW- JC likes to hide the name of the manufacturer sometimes and you end up with a surprise package. So I would suggest just let your muffler shop do a custom install with parts you buy from well know dealers like speedtweaks.net.

Message: it just has Cat-Back exhaust systems but it has no brand name included do you think it's worth going for without the brand name?

Message: Probably not, you will find out the system is a Heart Throbe or something like that and they are basically just a cheap aluminum system that is O.K. for a year or two. Spend the extra $ and get something that will last 5-7 years and sound great. Go with the name brands.

Message: I agree, however i think its a huge money saver to buy your muffler from a respected co. and then have your exit pipes custom bent for your application. 2.5" muffler pipe can be bent any which way, (what most dual sytems use) and is easy to do for experienced muffler shops. Obviously they wont last as long as stainless but you could have 3 sets installed for the price if you bought 1 stainless.
As for single out systems, 3" pipe has less pliability and thus going with a factory produced system may be a good choice.
