Subject: Noise in dash area IP: Logged
Message: I did a serch and couldn't find anything that really relates to what I am hearing.
I have a new 02 QC 4.7 Fulltime transfer case and all the goodies. I noticed that when the truck is at idle I can hear and unusual noise coming from what seems to be the center right dash area. The noise is notloud but noticable. It is an inconsistant muted poping clicking noise. It does not seem that as the engine RPM increases that it changes but as the RPM's come up I can't hear it for the engine noise so I can't tell if it is still making the noise. Like I said the rpm 's don't make the noise any faster or seem to change it. I just wanted to see if anybody else may have experienced this before I take it in to the dealer as I think this will be a hard one for them to figure out.
Thanks in advance
George

Message: I think I have the same noise. Mine only makes the noise at idle when the truck is in DRIVE, not neutral, reverse, or park. I took it to the dealership and of course they had their Miracle Ear's out and told me I was hearing things. I would love to know what it is. It scares me that it makes it only in drive as that leads me to believe it could be tranny related. Hopefully someone will post an answer to our question!

Message: Mine makes the noise only when the dak is warm and it doesn't make any difference where the gear selector is located. Makes the noise in park, neutral, or in gear doesn't matter.
