Subject: Optima batteries IP: Logged
Message: My truck came with the heavy duty pkge. (Larger battery, larger alternator, tranny cooler..etc.) What would I gain by adding one of these batteries if anything. I dont intend on putting a 10,000 mega watt stereo system.
So the question is to optimize or not to optimize

Honestly, not really. I use the Optima BLUE (Marine/Deep Cycle) since I offroad occasionally and may need to use my KC Daylighters (and other accessories). If you're not running any Mega-Watt Stereo system, don't bother.

Message: I have a red top Optima in my 67 Cougar and it was well worth it for that application.....it has a high compression engine, a high power stereo, and it sits for long periods of time without being started....but for a daily driven Dakota that already has a good battery and charging system, I wouldn't think the change would be worth it. When your battery dies, the Optima is a nice upgrade though.
