Subject: LED Bulb IP: Logged
Message: I recently purchased a set of stock replacement LED tailight bulbs. They are very bright and work very well except that the turnsignal relay now flashes very quickly like there is a burnt out bulb or something. Essentially the new bulb must have a different voltage or resistance and it has caused the relay to flash too quickly. Does anybody have any experience with this type of thing. Can I change a relay and fix it?? Help,

Message: I had the same problem on my last truck (GMC Safari) when I hooked up my boat trailer. I put in a heavy duty flasher and it fixed the problem. I havn't looked for it on my DAK but it's probably under the dash somewhere. It should be a clear cylinder that plugs in to a socket.

Message: I bought a "Cool Spot" bulb which is distrbuted by WIXtools.com It is the correct part # and after further talking I think it has too much resistance. I am going to look into the HD flasher as LEWNDI points out in previous post. The bulb is brighter and has a lifetime warranty. It would look best behind a clear lens, but I'm not sure I want my truck to look like all of the Japanese ricers? I'll let you know,

Message: I bought a solenoid part from NAPA that does not look like it works. I have a few things to check tomorrow, but I was wondering if anybody knows what type or part # I need to stop this "quick" flashing. Any help appreciated,

Message: You should only need an electronic flasher,
available at most auto parts stores. Your lights
flash rapidly because LEDs do not have
enough line resistance and fool the old-style
flasher into thinking the bulb is burned out.
I went to wixtools.com but could not find those
bulbs. Any pix?

Message: Go to wixtools and there is a picture of a bunch of tools on the page in a smaller box. Click on the "Wixtools" sign and you will go to the LED bulbs. They are actually in the motorcycle section. I am a parts and accessories manager for a motorcycle dealership here in denver and I have a set I can sell you at a discount if you want them. I can get more as well, but I have to figure out the electronic flasher. I think it is the type that is round and has a circuit board in it? Does that sound correct?

Message: As a follow-up to my never-ending quest to get these LEDs to work I managed to buy a HD flasher that kept blowing my hazard fuse. So I chaned back to the old flasher and replaced the fuse only to find out that the fog lamps are not working. Checked the fog lamp fuse, relay and bulbs, but they all are okay. Still no lamps. I checked the bulbs with a Ohm meter for continuity. Otherwise everything seems in order but no lamps. Any suggestions?
