Subject: Color me stupid IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I am washing my truck, and I hop up in the bed to wash the top, and pull the hose up to spray it off.....NOT EVEN thinking about the fact that it's making contact w/the side of the truck. So now I have small little scratches thru the clearcoat on about a 3' length along the side of my truck. What can I do to get rid of them? I know a guy who can fix it for like $80, and do a damn good job, but is there a cheaper way? As far as I can tell, it's only through the clearcoat, and not the paint itself.

Message: Just leave them there. Its gonna happen
sooner or later. I was like that when I first got
my truck. Now I dont even really care. Its a pick
up truck not a porche. It's just my opinion.

Message: I have used a product called "Scratch Out" with some success on light scratches. It will not damage the clearcoat. Whatever you try, allways start with the least agressive compound and tread lightly. I have also used 3-M "Finness It" on my classic cars, it`s kinda expensive but will last for a long time.

Message: You can get them buffed out too. I use Turtle Wax Color Magic (black) once in a while when waxing, it hides the scratches.

Message: I probably will do that. I did pick up some of the Turtle Wax Color Magic (but it's blue), and although you can still tell the scratches are there, you can't really unless you are looking for it. Not too bad. Now if I can get a deal on the one guy I was talking about (like less than $50) I'll probably pony up the money. He worked on my fiancee's car and this guy does wonders for like next to nothing.

Message: Try GS27. I closed the gargage door on my tailgate and GS27 took out the scratched like new.
I know you can get it at PepBoys and maybe even Target.

Message: Hey RJay,
How does the GS27 work..? Is it colored..? Does it really make the scratch go away or just hide it. Does it last a long time..?
I`ve seen it on TV but I usually don`t believe those things. If it works I`ll sure try it.
Thanks
