Well, I broke down and finally got a new column shifter today (auto). I got sick of looking at the nasty big blob of expoxy putty that never set right. This one shifts smooth as silk, I was always honking on the old one. It cost me about $160 with labour though. Doh!!!!

It's not purty at all! It's just the same as the original, but matte black instead of shiny. They won't replace just the knob, which broke off, but have to replace the whole stick (sounds like the ball joint/control arm b.s.). The other one was hard as heck to shift, so it finally broke. I looked for an aftermarket cool one but to no avail.

Yeah, Lesley, what's up with the "always honking on the old one"?

Is that some kind of Canuk lingo?

Or did your shifter have a horn on the end of it?
