We had our first big snowfall of the year here in Toronto yesterday. Got about 7 inches. Ive got 200 lbs. over the rear axle and the DAK goes thru it with no trouble. It's my first winter with it so I'm real impressed. I've seen a few posts here where people complained about Goodyear Eagles but so far Ive found them to be great tires.

While I don't have the Goodyear Eagles on my 2001 CC 4x4, I do have Goodyear's on there and have been very pleased with how they handle in the snow. I was towing a snowmobile trailer with three sleds on it through about a foot of powder and i got through it with no problems. I have never had any problems with Goodyear's on any car I have had.

Wait untill it packs down or turns to ice, then snows again. Snow on ice, BAD! I love my studs. How much I like to go offroad in my 2WD, I am going to need chains real soon. I think people just forget to take off slowly or aren't used to it when they post about their truck in snow. I havn't been in one truck (any make or model) that was just TERRIBLE in the snow when it had bags, and or snow tyres.

I forgot to mention that I have 300 pounds of sandbags in the bed of my truck. I wish studs were still road legal, but that has been a few years since they made them illegal where I live.

I had a bit of trouble driving in the snow the first year or so that I had the dak, but it was me, not the truck. The weather has been pretty crazy the last 2 days, and me & the dak and my mopar non-descript street tires do just fine. I have 4 bags of sand in the bag, I give myself plenty of stopping time & room, and don't brake, accelerate or turn too hard.

I have 380, I have to if I want to get through deep snow, but it works just fine. I don't fishtail out of controll ever. It's actually legal to have chains on if you wanted to here. 'Cept V-Bars, those aren't legal anywhere...

Studded tires used to be legal here in Ontario too, but they were banned years ago. The government figured they were doing too much damage to the roads. In fact there used to be signs at the American borders saying you couldn't come into Ontario if you had studs on.

Lesley is correct it's mostly the driver fault when theres problems. I have maybe 100 pounds in the back (tire jack and box with nessary driving stuff). I drive the 400/69 route about every other week and have never had a problem. The trick to driving in the winter is just take your time and don't gas it.

Hey hey! Toronto's 7 inches turned into about a foot up here in iglooville. What a mess. I have a 2wd Dak with regular all-season tires and no weight in the back, unless you count the big a$$ snowbank that's collected back there. I had to work last night in the after math of this storm and let me tell you it wasn't much fun. I get around just fine though. It's the other inexperienced drivers that make things a little hairy sometimes. I even had to make my way around several front wheel drive cars which generally get through the white stuff pretty well. Like some of you said, take your time and go easy on the accelerator. Posi helps too.
Peace, Steph.

I used sand bags in my 1st pick-up years ago. Their OK, but if the sand gets wet and then freezes they can slide around back there like 60lb sledge hammers and do a real number on the bed walls.I've built a 2x4 frame the length and width of my bed and fit in 18x18 or 24x24 patio slabs. You get good weight, no shifting, and the bed still remains virtually flat so it can still be used.Just make sure you have a bedliner or mat or you'll scatch the heck out of the bed. 2001 QC 4.7 4x4 3.55 (my 4th and best pick-up)
