Subject: How do I remove clutch fan on 4.7l IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 4.7l dakota and I want to know how to remove the main belt driven fan. I have an electric fan that came with the truck, and I put a 180degree thermostat, I doubt I will need the fan that puts a little more strain on the engine.
Looking for cheap horsepower.
thanks

Message: I wouldn't remove the clutch fan if I were you. The electric fan that is stock is very minimal and not enough to properly cool the truck. The whole idea of a clutch fan is to not waste HP as the fan is free floating most of the time and locks up only when needed.

Message: Dak 2,
We'll see when it gets warmer again. It's always pretty warm here in Galveston/Houston, TX. though.
And you know, in about 45 secs., I can re-install my belt driven fan! No big deal, no wrench or anything required to re-install.
Happy sailing camper
