Subject: How do I remove clutch fan on 4.7l
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 2001 4.7l dakota and I want to know how to remove the main belt driven fan. I have an electric fan that came with the truck, and I put a 180degree thermostat, I doubt I will need the fan that puts a little more strain on the engine.
Looking for cheap horsepower.
thanks

I wouldn't remove the clutch fan if I were you. The electric fan that is stock is very minimal and not enough to properly cool the truck. The whole idea of a clutch fan is to not waste HP as the fan is free floating most of the time and locks up only when needed.

Dak 2,

We'll see when it gets warmer again. It's always pretty warm here in Galveston/Houston, TX. though.

And you know, in about 45 secs., I can re-install my belt driven fan! No big deal, no wrench or anything required to re-install.

Happy sailing camper
