Subject: no dash lights or taillights IP: Logged
Message: Are these on the same fuse? I just put in a new stereo and now my dash lights and taillights dont work. I know there is a wire for the factory radio dimmer, but I left it alone (got an adaptor harness so i wouldnt have to cut the factory wires).....I didnt check the fuses yet, but something tells me it will just blow again.Any ideas as to what the prob is?

Message: I had the EXACT same problem when i put in a new stereo. I took it back out and put caps on the unused dimmer wire and it has worked great since.

Message: yes the wipers work, so do the turn signals and brake lights.............the only things that dont work are the taillights, front park lights and dash lights........yes the unusued dimmer wire is sealed off too. Another symptom I just thought of is that the stereo doesnt turn on sometimes til I turn the headlights on and off once.......Ive put in countless stereos before in all 30 of my previous vehicles, but what the heck could I have done.....?

Message: I would start by checking all my fuses and making sure none are blown. If one is, replace it and see if that fixes your problem. I've use the wire harness setup your talking about too with no problems in the past. The tail-lights, front park lights and instrument/dash lights should all be connected and share a fuse, thats why when you turn them on they all come on together.

Message: Hey i had that exact same problem and went around chasing the schematics all over the inside of the dash.('92 dak) I don't know if this is your problem but mine turned out to be a shorted wire behind my headlight switch. Everything you mention runs through the headlight switch. May as well check.

Message: We recently changed the pull switch for my lights and had to
get a new repair harness.
After I left the lights on (I know...) we jumped it and now fuse
#8 keeps blowing which controls my dash and taillights
