Subject: ABS Problem?

First real snow today east of Seattle - woohoo!

BUT, when I checked the ABS - I just slid!
Now, before, I have tried it on wet freeway (with
lotsa room) and it seemed to work fine -
couldn't break traction. That was nice.

In the snow today - no chance of ABS
controlling skid; I just skidded immediately,
unless I modulated the brake pedal. It didn't
matter what the conditions were - snow just
killed the ABS.

No indicator lights in the dash, except at
startup, when it does the self-test; everything
appears normal.

IS this normal? Yikes!

ABS Upgrade? (was ABS Problem)
IP: Logged

DOH!
Guess what, Kids? I have stock brakes. Here
all along I thought that because the
(fraudulent) "ABS" light came on during
startup, I had ABS - NOT!
Although my Haynes book gives a
less-than-stellar description of the ABS
controller, I figgered out I don't have it.
Shoot.
So, is upgrading to ABS feasible?

Your abs light comes on during startup because you have rear anti lock brakes as do all dakotas. As far as upgrading I suppose anything is possible if you have the money to spend.
