Message: Only canadian daks have drl's. There is a fuse for it. I don't know which one it is. I pulled the fuse on a saturn and a rental s 10. The only thing that happened was one of the bright lights didn't work. I don't use them anyway. This was a few years ago.

Ive resorted to clicking my e-brake to the first tooth making sure the brake isnt set ...still getting used to that brake warning light flashing...my passengers think im crazy.

Message: Why dont you guys get a Chiltons book (sevice manual) for your trucks and look up the wiring diagram and try to figure out where the DRLs get power from. Maybe you can disconnect (cut) a wire for them.

I don't have them, but turning on my headlights in daylight is as automatic as putting on my seatbelt. Or do you guys drive with no seatbelt, too?

Hope that when you're doing 130 mph with no DRL's and you hit that car that pulls out (cuae they didn't see you doing 130), the ensuing roll-over doesn't strip your 180 lb a$$ out of the truck for some hi-speed weight reduction.

Message: Ok for one, DRLs take control of the truck away from the driver. It should be up to the driver to decide if he wants the lights on or not. Or maybe the driver wants the fog lights on with the parking lights cause that looks cooler. I have the same arguement against automatic seatbelts and doors that lock when the car is put in drive. Its my truck, let me control it, not some computer, that who knows programmed it. Life is about choices. Thats why you can order a Dakota with different options, colors etc. Sorry to beat the dead horse.

Message: I just disabled mine on the 93 5.2 that I just bought. There is a module on the right inner fender near the firewall (on my 93) You can just unplug the plug however your Highbeam indicator wont work so you must clip the highbeam input to the module and join it to the highbeam output to the indicator on the dash. this can be found by using a test light to find the highbeam and a jumper to find the wire to the indicator. I plugged the plug back in after connecting the two wires. everything works well now.
(results may vary, some settling of contents may occur during shipping, void where prohibited)

"I wanta turn off a proven life-saving tool so I can look cool. I mean Dude! Its my God given right to make decision that affect me, my passengers, and anybody else I hit cause Hey, Its America!
Of course, a split second later I realized that nobody's really that stupid, and that Matt simply has a major control Jones going. Good luck Matt.

Message: dan, could you point me to the stats that prove DRL's save lives? I mean one not sponsored by GM or one of the car manufactures. The beauty about statistics, is that you can manipulate them to show anything you like.
Here's a stat for ya, since DRL's have become more common, motorcycle accidents have started to climb because they're being lost in the sea of headlights out there. That stat is provided by the NHTSB I believe, look it up.
DRL's are a waste, if you're that bad a driver you need lights on other cars so you can see them coming at you, then you have bigger problems than driving and you should start walking.
The only accident I've ever been in was caused by another driver that crossed the double yellow line and hit the Cement Mixer I was driving head on, and ya know what? I had my headlights on. They certainly helped that driver see that huge red mixer coming at him.
Before you pick on someone's choices, maybe you should be sure you have your facts right.

Message: DRL'S suck! If you can't see a car with no headlights on in broad daylight then I don't want your ass on the road with me anyways! I'm sick of hearing how this will do this and this will do that! How do you expect to sneak up on your cheating wife in the middle of the night when your supposed to be at work when you pull into the drive with damn DRL's on? Don't get me started on mandatory seatbelts!

Message: DRL is another example of socialist controls.
Socialists belive they know better how to take care of you then you do. Basically its all about control, period. And it starts with DRLs..then guns, then how much you are allowed to pay or be paid to do a job, the type of home you can live in....etc.....
DRL>>>>>>>>>>JUST SAY NO!
Bring back common sense.
Can anyone provide stats on how DRL save lives? What did we all do before DRL and such? Were people dying on droves because we did not use DRL?
Here's a thought.....put down the cell phone, turn off your computer and the gameboy, close up the WSJ(you can get your stock prices anytime)quit shaving and applying makeup as you drive, get your head out of your ass, pay attention to what is going on around you and you won't need DRL.
Remember, no government in the world can legislate common sense and no amount of laws and regulations can take the place of common sense.

Message: The daytime running lamps are actually a new sophisticated light-beam for data transfer developed by the government. The micro-camera in your rear-view mirror records your activity and sends the image via your DRL at every mile marker, which have been outfitted with refractal lenses, to transmit the light/data stream to a government satellite.
It's all over, man.

Message: Ya know, in WW2 (on the edge of RADAR acceptance) they used lights to camoflage planes. I saw some footage and it really did work.
I haven't really seen conclusive proof that DRLs make a car easier to see. All the demonstrations seem to be in best case conditions.

Unfortunately that takes common sense, a trait sadly lacking in individuals lately. They would rather the government think for them.

Unfortunately, this takes lots of money, namely yours! So while we abdicate common sense to Uncle Sam, he responds in kind by extracting a larger bit from our paychecks.
