Message: I have been useing Redline C+ATF. It has been wounderful. It shifts great hot or cold and will take about twice the heat for about 3 times as long as OEM. It runs cooler and it cost me $1.95 less per-quart then the Mopar brand. I have a 4.7L w/A trans. My trans has two filter internaly. One is the primary filter and the other is on the return side of the trans comeing back from the cooler. Mine took 8 quarts to return it to full when at operateing temp. I purchased my ATF from www.myoilshop.com .

Message: Amsoil ATF +4
I had been having a problem with my truck developing a jerky motion forward and aft ( as opposed to a vertical vibration ) though it only happened when the vehicle was fully warmed up and between 1400 and 1800 rpm while cruising. Level or slight up hill did not matter. Three dealerships could not find the cause, the electronic diagnosis indicated everything was fine. The mechanic tried a new throttle position sensor, but that wasn’t it. At 29,500 miles I had the entire system drained, new filters and refilled with Amsoil. Problem solved. We’re guessing the torque converter was engaging/disengaging inappropriately. It now shifts smoother, runs quieter and all signs of the problem are gone. Seems to me I had read a post by someone else who described their problem almost exactly as mine and when they changed their fluid it went away also. I don’t know if the brand of fluid made a difference or if any new refill of ATF +4 would have solved the problem, but My Dodge service manager indicated that when he was in Alaska, they only used Amsoil in their trucks due to it’s cold temperature properties. I’ve a friend that races rally cars, and though not a big fan of synthetic motor oils, or Amsoil, he swears by Amsoil transmission fluid. I have the 45RFE transmission, and I had the NP231HD transfer case refilled with the same stuff at the same time.
My 2 cents, for what it’s worth.

Message: When filling the differential, you should use 75W-90. The fluid level should be 1/4" below the filler plug hole on 8 1/4 axles and 5/8" below the filler plug hole for 9 1/4 axles.
If you have the LSD, you need to add a friction control additive. They reccomend Mopar Hypoid Gear Oil Additive Friction Modifier.
As far as the tranny fluid goes, Dodge reccomends Mopar ATF+4, Type 9602. They also say that if you use anything but that, deterioration in shift quality and/or torque converter clutch shudder could occur.
