I have a 99 RC Sport and have been looking into putting in an overhead console. What kind of installation am I looking at? Since some trucks came with them are the wires already there and I would just have to mount the thing and hook the wires up?

Good question.

I have one to add - do Daks have common
wiring harnesses? F'r instance, is fog light
wiring already in place for non-fogged Daks,
etc.?

Slow, I can't help you, I'm sorry. But Daddy-D, I just put in a set of fogs on my 2001 Dakota. It had the molded plastic bumper (chrome top, plastic down below) and it had the circular areas taht were easy to cut out and put in the fogs. I found no wiring for any fog lights pre-installed on my dakota so I had to use the wires and switch that came with the kit. Not hard at all to do. Mounting the fogs was the hardest part. Take a look at my website if you are interested of seeing some pics of the install.

No, the wires are not there. There's about 5 different dash, door, and cab wiring harness combinations depending on what equipment you had stock (security, RKE, power windows/locks/mirrors). Additionally, I think the computer module just to the right of the glove box is different (controlls locks, overhead light, etc).

In short, you'll have to pull the dash and drop the headliner in addition to the $$$ harnesses. (As I recall, the dash harness is ~$300) I found all of this out when I added power locks/windows/mirrors to mine. It's NOT worth the hassle and $$$$!
