What is the 4" diameter steel tube (17" long) mounted on rubber shock mounts located under the bed between the back bumper and the spare tire? 2001 Quad Cab 4.7 2WD

I was wondering the same thing.

I think it is a vibration damper of some sort.

It's a quadcab thing for vibrations. Hawkeye solved this mystery. Its on the offroad or raised board about 6-8 months ago

My father-in-law stated that I did not want to buy a Dodge pickup. EVeryone he knew complained that the bed bolts would work loose and the bed would clunk.

Perhaps this is why the dog bone is mounted in the frame ends between the soft rubber bushings.

Dampens the vibrations therefore the bolts don't work loose?

My 4x2 Quad has it, too.
