Subject: Tailgate Locks IP: Logged
Message: There seems to be at least two different types of tailgate locks on the market. Below are links to them. One seems to be a locking plastic cap that cover the tailgate handle that keep it from being lifted (Pop/Lock). The other lock secures the tailgate pivot to help prevent tailgate removal. Has anyone use either of these methods, or maybe even recommend others. I am conserned with someone trying to take my tailgate and am looking for way to protect it without causing myself too much aggrivation. Any suggestions are most welcome.

Message: I had never seen the pivot lock before now. That looks like the way I would go. That way you can still open your tailgate without having to use your keys. Either one will work though. You have to look at it like this: no matter how cheesy the lock is, why would someone try to get one that they have to mess with for a while when they can walk accross the street and possibly get one that they don't have to mess with to get it off?

Message: Myself and a friend of mine installed the Bully Lock on our trucks and we are both happy with the results. It has a clean factory appearance which is also nice.

Message: Very easy. Takes about 10 minutes if you take your time. Pop off the trim piece at the tailgate handle, remove one bolt, bolt in lock w/ supplied bolt & adjust lock, put new trim piece on around handle.

Message: FWIW I installed the Pace Edwards PowerGate and have had very good luck with it. It was very easy to install. In fact it could be installed in about 30 minutes. And the nicest thing is that it is wired into the door locks so I can use my remote to unlock the tailgate when I unlock the other doors.
Hope this helps,
Jason
