Subject: Air Intake Kits?
IP: Logged

Message:
I am going to purchase an intake kit for my 99 5.2L 4X4. I looked at the different kits at truckperformance.com and have it narrowed down to either the AirRaid or the K&N. Which would you suggest?

TIA,
Chad

If I was to do mine, I would go to www.intenseperformance.com

They have a VERY nice setup in my opinion.

The K&N kit is probably the best, but it's just too expensive. The Intense Performance kit is better than the Air Raid and I love mine, I would go with the Intense Performance kit, best bang for the buck.

I went with the Stage II with the 7" Big Mouth filter. Sooner or later when the $$$ starts flowin I'm going to upgrade to the Stage III and run the Quick-Cold tube to the grill to suck up some more air. Again, it all depends on what you want to spend. I would start with the Stage II kit (not sure if you can fit a 9" filter in there or not with the 5.2, if in doubt go with the 7"). You can always upgrade to the Stage III later if you want. Most people I've talked to ran the Big Mouth filter and I'm not disappointed with mine either. Just check out the different options and go with what you can afford for now, again, you can always upgrade it later.

I have a '99 5.2L CC 4x4 Dakota and I need to decide which intake to get. The K&N Gen II FIPK or the Intense Performance Stage III w/9" Power Stack Filter. I don't really care which one costs more. I'm more interested in which one improves the performance and possibly the mpg more. Any comments, reviews of both would be greatly appreciated. Mahalo (Thank you)
