Message: Just wondering how many of you guys (or gals) have had a rough shifting automatic transmission? Is there a fix for it? I took mine to the dealer about it, and he said it already had the update done. (which I dont see how because this was my first time back to the dealer) Is he giving me the "run-around", or what? Does anybody's transmission shift smoother after the update? Any help would be appreciated.

Message: Well stew, when i got mine at first it did have a
hard shift to it....it still does at times, esp
when i really get on it...it tends to shift and
have a very high RPM, and then loads up and
finally kicks hard. I had mine in the shop 3 times
before the tranny guy actually saw it. From what
he felt that there was a glitch in the tranny
programming, which supposedly he hooked it up and
there was a glitch, so they flashed the PCM, but
then i lost my miles per gallons!! but i now have
just about 15000 miles on it and generally it does
pretty well. You might want to try resetting the
computer( disconnect the negative terminal for
about an hour) and see if that helps b/c the
computer learns your driving style and if it had
any mileage like mine already on it, well the
computer had already learned other people's style
other then mine!!!!! so try that before flashing!!!

Message: Russ, did you get the update for the tranny, or did yours always shift smooth? Mine shifts hard from second and third most of the time, also from first to second gear sometimes. Should I get the update? I hear the update makes it harder on gas because of their pinging fix. What should I do?

Message: Stew my trans has always shifted ok,as far as I know it has not had an update unless they did it when it was in for service and did not tell me.the only problem I have is when at low speed if I get a little heavy on the gas it seems to grab 1st gear or one of the 2nd gears at to high a speed,it seems to get a little confused looking for a gear. But even the full throttle shifts are quite smooth.I would stay after your dealer. We have the same transmissions they should be able to get it working properly.I am lucky I have a great dealership were I got my truck.
