Subject: Check guages warning ? IP: Logged
Message: Periodicaly I've been getting a light that comes on and reads "Check Guages." It stays on for a few seconds and then goes away. I have noticed that its the oil pressure gauge. It falls all the way down as if the truck was off then shoots back up to normal. What the heck couldbe causing this?
Any answers are appreciated.

Message: I had a 99 dak 5.2 v8 that did that. There was an internal oil leak and the heavy engine mechanic had to fix it. It took several tries to find the problem because there were no outward signs. ie blue smoke, oil in the driveway, or in the coolant. But I was 3 qts low after 1500 miles. Then I had to add about a quart every 2 weeks. The dealer did some tests and found it. Hvae the dealer look at it and tell them that you think it may be an internal leak. In the meantime, check your oil. If it is low adding some will be a temporary fix.

Message: Probably just a oil pressure sending unit.

Message: Im pretty sure its not my battery, I just replaced it. It happened again yesterday. It comes on after heavy breaking only. Soon as I let off the brake the needle jumps right back to normal. Anyone else had this happen?
