Subject: Simple Problem...?

So this is the breakdown of how Dodge is in the process of fixing a simple broken gear from the heater box (Blendor or something). I titled it "The 7.4 hour problem"...

The 7.4 hour problem...(How long it "takes" to disassemble the dash and replace the broken parts)...

December 22 - Brought my truck in to get looked at (for gear that fell out of dash while driving)
- turns out to be the gear from the heater box that switches ducts to floor.
- didn't have time to fix it that day. Can't bring it in Monday (my day off) because of Christmas.

December 27 - Call to bring in following Monday (Dec. 31 - Can't do, too busy) so I made appointment to bring it in on the January 7th.

January 7 (Monday), I drop it off at 9:00 in the morning. They "diagnose" (re-diagnose) the problem.

January 8 (Tuesday), I call at 4:00. They didn't get the part in, they don't know when it will be in, so I pick it up and arrange to drop it off Thursday Morning.

January 10 (Thursday), I drop my truck off at 9:00 in the morning.
- They say it will be ready after 9 hours worth of work.
- They call me at about 3:00 to tell me that it will take an extra day and I could pick it up Friday (January 11) at around lunchtime -- they issue a rental.

January 11 (Friday), I call at 1:00 to check the status.
- They say it's put back together they just have to charge the A/C system which should take an hour or two.
- I call back at 5:30 to ask the status. They say their A/C Recharger is broke and so is Chevrolet's up the street. I can pick it up, turn in the rental, and take it back to get it charged on Monday (should take 10 minutes)
- I get there at 5:45. I go to my truck and the headlights come on automatically with the ignition now, fog lights don't work at all, and the dome light will not come on without the door being open.
- They give me back my rental and tell me to keep it until Monday (January 14) - it should be done by then.

NOTE ON RENTAL: Rental is a 2002 Dodge Caravan with 1,000 miles on it. Every time I turn the steering wheel to the left, it makes an awful grinding noise. It gets worse as time goes on. I would check the power steering fluid, but it's not my car.

I feel for ya man, sounds like some of the experiences I had with my 5 star dealer a few months ago when my truck was only a few weeks old. Your right about the Caravan, drive it like you stole it:)
