Subject: Leaky Thermostat Housing IP: Logged
Message: I've just noticed tonight that my '99 RC V6's thermostat housing has a VERY slow leak. There was some type of build-up of white sediment around the housing. Considering the truck has only 14,000kms, this is disappointing. Anyone else have this problem???

Message: I have a 99 with the 5.2L and have the same problem. At about 13,000 miles it was leaking. They replaced the gasket. At about 18,000 miles it was leaking again and they replaced the Thermostat housing. I'm at 19,500 miles now and can still smell anitifreeze, and the white crusty stuff is back. I need to go back to the dealer again.

Message: Fellas, I have a 98 with a 5.2 and at 24,000 the same thing happened to me. I chose not to take it back to the dealer. Instead I just replaced it myself with a NAPA replacement. I'm not sure why it happened but when I removed the original gasket for the housing you could see where it had seperated. It must have something to do with the name Mark.
