Is it true that some Dakotas have a 98mph limiter and some have a 117mph limiter? I was on good old I75 in mi (I think the Flint area) and I had the thing goin 110 but had to let off, too many cars. Ironically, there was a statey (state cop) about a mile down the road, thankfully he already had some one pulled over.

Yeah some have them set at 98...not sure what models and others at 117. My truck is the same as yours except its a 2000 and 4x2. Mine is set at 117 I guess. I've had mine to 115 but I started to run out of road so I slowed down (plus I only had R rated tires on). The way it was still accelerating I think it might have hit 130 if not for the limiter. It was still accelerating really well. The engine didn't even seem to be straining.

mine hit 110 and struggled to go on (probably the extra weight of the 4x4). I'm sure a tonneau cover and some mods will help, but I really don't plan on doing that again, or at least I don't plan on doing it on a regular basis. too damn fast for a truck that's not lowered (just my opinion, I don't wanna roll)

My 4.7CC+5 speed 3.55LS 2wd was pulling quite strong when I found out that the speed limiter was 115.

Yeah it may feel kinda cool to go that fast but its way to dangerous unless you are on some far off road with just you on it. Besides when will you ever need to go that fast? I'd rather be able to have better take offs from the line.

My 2001 CC 4X4 4.7 3.55 cuts out at 117. Kind of scary in a 4X4, but it got there pretty easy.
