Message: I am starting to think bad thoughts about the parts napa sells. So for I have gotten 1 bad Napa brand t-stat and going on the 4th Napa brand temp sensor unit. These are the only parts I have purchased from them so I dont know. I will had it to them for being one of the only parts stores who's employees actually know what they are talking about.

Message: My experience is that NAPA often has 2 lines of parts... one cheepo to match competitors prices, and one that is better that is obviously higher quality.
I can say that I go to NAPA when I want a BETTER quality part. (Their emergancy-brake cables are teflon lined and thicker than most others. Their high-end brake pads and rotors are better than OEM.)
I suspect you just got a couple bum parts... this can happen anywhere. Certainly you must respond to your personal experience when it comes to NAPA parts.
What temp. sensor are you refering to, anyway?
Battery temp. sensor?
Intake air temp. sensor?
Coolant temp. sensor?
Defroster temp. sensor?
Driver temp. sensor? ;-)

Message: I have had alot good luck with Napa and Car Quest!! Both tend to sell good quality parts. I have had the worst results with AutoZone. Auto Zone has a better price and most items have a lifetime warranty but they tend to sell and push alot of cheap Chinesse made junk! You realy have to know your parts if you go to AutoZone or they will try to push some realy low grade stuff on ya. They have these little clocks in back and each monday their regional manager tells them what brand of parts they need to realy try to push. If they do not meet their goals they get into alot of trouble. Their was one right across a Large GM plant here in Michigan and all these UAW GM guys would come over needing parts for their car. The regional manager was always asking the store manager to push NGK and NipponDenso plugs, Bosch O2 sensors and Duetsch and Bosch oil filters. Well that went over about as well as Edy Murphy at a Klan meeting. So ever week he got reamed for not meeting goals! P.S. I have no problem with Japanesse or German parts but I have yet to see a decent chineese made part.

Message: I am replacing the one with the 2 wires that is easily(somewhat) accessable without removing the a/c compressor and alternator.
Sandman,
Are Bosch O2 sensors any good? I need to replace mine and that is all I have seen.

Message: Personally, I have had nothing but bad parts from Napa. Most mechanics I know won't use them saying Napa is Crapa. I suspect Napa parts are parts rejected by the OEMs.

Message: That one is the coolant temp sensor for the computer. The one for the gauge is the single wire one closer to the thermosat. That is the one you need to check the connector on and replace if it is good.

Message: AC/Delco makes a better O2 sensor then Bosch does. With that said I have changed thousands of o2 sensors and have not seen any difference between Bosch and AC/Delco. I work with some AC/Delco Tech.'s and they showed me their statistical data showing % 0f failures from lot to lot. Their research said that their product was better then their closet competitior Bosch. My personal vechiles average about 145,000 per o2 sensor and they have all been Bosch. Any jober store ought to be able to get you AC/Delco or Nippon Denso OEM sensors if that is what you want! I get Nippon Denso parts from Nippon Direct. If you need to find an otlet that carrys AC/Delco and is not a dealer call 1-800-acdelco and ask them for the nearest AC/Delco WD in your area. They will ask for for your Zip code. Hope this helps

Message: Figured out my proble. I had some slices in the hose running from radiator to overflow so that is why my coolant level in the overflow never changed. Also, the single wire temp sensor was loose so I pushed it back down and now everything works. I guess I bumped it whe I removed the alternator.

Message: The local auto shop I go to for the stuff I don't know how to do or my faith is lacking in my knowledge and abilities. They use all Napa parts and I've only gotten one obviously bad part, a $250 rack unit. It was under warranty and was replaced absolutely free, I have had some trouble with my brakes off and on but many I believe were climate related. I think they're good parts though.

Message: I've always had good luck with Napa Parts tho they are generally a little more expensive if you get the high quality parts...
You'll get bad parts mo matter where you go.. every company makes "lemons" now and then... ya know Dodge has made its share of Lemons, too, but that doesnt mean all Dodge's are bad. I love my Dakota although it loves to drink gas more than i would like but.. who buys a 4 wheel drive truck for its fuel economy anyway? I bought my Dak so i wouldn't slide off icy mountains and so i could lauch my boat with ease. It runs well for its age.
Just my humble opinion..
