Subject: Adding Tachs IP: Logged
Message: Here's a helpful note. On Dodge trucks with PCM's, you can not add an aftermarket tach by going to the ignition coil. This somehow changes the resistance to much and causes the computer to fry. Happenned to me today. Oh, and surprise, DC doesn't care. Next time I'll just blow the engine and say, DC should have installed a tach in here.

Message: The service manager said that the PCM might have a tach lead coming off of it, or the wire harness might have a lead going to the instrument cluster. A tech would have to determine that as wire harnesses are different for different models.
5-sp with 4 cyl reqires a lot of rpm to get out of the way and tachs come in handy, but once again DC doesn't really care.

Message: I have a tach(stock) in mine, but I am pretty postive that there is a tach lead coming out of the computer, I beleive it is green with a blue strip...dont quote me on that it has been awhile since been under the hood of my friends 318 that he put a tach in.
