I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what you did about it ! I have a 98 Dodge Dakota and was having trouble getting it to start. When you turn the key you get one click. I removed the starter myself and found it melted. The contacts in the starter get so hot that they do not make contact and melted the starter! Dodge has updated the starter and added a new wiring harness. With the truck being off warranty I am left to absorb the cost myself. I believe this should be covered or on a recall. Has anyone else had this problem and had any success recovering costs from Chrysler ?
