Message: Ok so lets hear from you dak owners that have the full time transfer case in there QC daks.
The questions I have are does the fuel mileage really suffer and if so to what degree ?
Do you like the full time system for overall conditions ?
Do you think this system causes additional wear and maint ?
Is this system pratical for moderate high speed long distance highway driving 75 to 90 MPH ?
I have one ordered with full time, LSD, 4.7 and all the toys and tomorrow 12/31/01 is the last day I can make any changes to the order. So any info I can get would be very helpful. Thanks MIG

Message: I've got that setup, FT4WD 4.7ltr QC SLT PLUS LSD TT basically everything but Leather. Around town I average about 11 to 12 MPG. I've got about 8K miles it but haven't taken any trips in it yet. I was a little disapointed in the gas mileage but I guess i'll manage. The FT4WD is great especially here in all the wet weather we get in Oregon.

Message: I am very pleased with the Full Time 4WD. I have a 2002 5.9L 4x4 Sport Plus and I get around 11 miles per gallon. I don't think that has to do with the Full time transfer case as much as it does with the engine. I have a couple friends that have the 5.9L in the Ram and they get around 12 miles per gallon. The fuel economy is the price you pay for a V8.
As for the performance of the Full Time 4x4, great. It is almost impossible to get the tires to slip under normal driving conditions. I used to own a little 4 cylinder truck and the back tires would spin out in all conditions, my new truck will not. It is very nice.
Lastly, if you want to save a little on gas, make sure you get the 3.55 rear end and not the 3.92. That will save you around a mile or two per gallon.

Message: I had a 98 with the rare full time OR part time transfer case and did notice 1 or 2 mpg difference if I ran it in full time. My new 00 QC has the full time only transfer case so I can't compare as easily, but the 4.7 motor more than makes up for any loss. I see 12-13mpg around town and about 18 - 19 on the highway (although like most trucks, highway mileage goes down fast if your haulin ass.

The FT4WD is Great on the highway. You can't even tell any difference. I get around 17 - 18 MPG, that is if I don't get on it that much.
