Hey everyone, check out how easy it is to become the target of childish banter. I posted a site that followed the build up of a 2001 Honda Civic. The next thing I realized was that you can't post "ANYTHING" in the off topic forum. Such upstanding members like "DR.Q" decided to convey their stupidity towards others by putting down someone else's hard work. He was the first to put a name on his post, so became the poster child for my own carried away attack. Yes, I did get carried away, but there was no call for his original comments. Let alone a person named "Andrew" who tried to insite others to join in on the verbal assault. It kind of makes me wonder why there is even an "Off Topic" forum. It's not like I posted the site link in the middle of the "Lowered Dakotas" forum. I mean, come on.... it was OFF TOPIC!!!

First off, I didnt try to insite anything. I just made my opinion be known, you realize, that is still allowed here. Also, Dr.Q was just giving his opinion on the whole subject which is also alowed. Its too bad you cant let people voice their opion here. If you read carefully, it was coupe2nv who started the attack so why dont you climb down of your "soap box" and rethink your whole post here. Boy, let me do a little searching here and find out how many "attacks" you have joined in on mr. high&mighty(thats you quad2nv or coupe2nv or whatever you call yourself).

Normally I steer clear of these bash-fests, but here's my take.
Modifying a car/truck is a personal expression of the owner's personality that capitalizes on the pre-existing personality of the vehicle. Some people can't get enough of Civics. Others get all weak in the knees over VW's. For some, it is trucks. Problem is, most people who are drawn to one type of vehicle don't understand why anyone would buy something else, much less spend money to modify it. You're not likely to ever catch me buying a Civic, then buying more stuff to mod it. Then again, the average modded Civic owner would look at my truck and wonder "what the hell was he thinking?? Is he an idiot????" Even here on the Dak board, I'm sure there are quite a few of you who think I should be drug tested. I could care less if anybody likes my truck or not, because I like it. And I'm not going to knock someone with a slammed Civic for what he's done, even though I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't knock him because I know that modding vehicles can be fun, maybe even a passion, and he's expressing his personality through his car.
Bottom Line: QUAD2NV's Dak is a sweet truck. And the Civic is well on it's way to being a sweet car. Just because you don't understand or don't like something doesn't mean you should trash it.

I have not read the original posts nor do I wish to offer a opinion on them, but I do agree with Dan's approach. Further, I think those of us that take an interest in our vehicles (of any make or model) have more in common than differences. Find and enjoy that. Merry Christmas!

... actually I was going to ignore all of this childish flaming... until the originator turned into a cry-baby when he got negative feedback. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. My take on Quads connundrum.
The people who appreciate your Civic are going to go to that page and say quietly to themselves - "Hmmmm! that's a nice car." Then they are going to come back to this page and keep surfing the Dak's cause that's what they came for.
But the folks who feel it doesn't belong here are going to go out of thier way to post and tell you about it. If it is indeed an "Off topic board" then indeed you run the risk of exposing yourself to praise or harsh criticism on many levels, rather than just about your truck. That is the blessing and the curse of free speech.
If you hang out your shingle and only expect people to say good things about you, then you are either naive or insecure. Being either of these is not a crime. But before you begin to attack your critics consider how they came to know about your porojects in the first place.
This is a group of people who have a common interest it is not "necessarily" (sp?) a support group. I wish you luck with your Civic and I'm sad to see your selling your Dak. I hope you enjoy whatever you do no matter what anyone else has to say about it because you're the one who has to make the payments on it.
