So I'm goin' to pick up my friend Jesse to take him to school this morning and I'm within a half mile or so of his house. I'm about to make a left turn and the chick that was at the stop sign there cut waaaay into my lane and nailed my dak right in the middle of the bumper.
So I get out with my camera and take a few pictures and this lady is freaking out. She had her kids in the car cuz she was takin' 'em to school. Luckily one of her kids used to go out with my freind Jesse, the guy I was goin' to pick up. So anyway, her mom was drivin' and said that the sun got in her eyes and she didnt see me. Then she says(insert best mexican accent here)"I no have moooney, I no have insurance, my husband in jail."
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Some nice guy that lives right near where the accident was calls the coppers. Joshua Search and Rescue gets there first. Noone is injured except for tha chicks littlest girl (maybe 8 years old) that wasnt wearin her seatbelt and hit the seat a little bit. Search and rescue stays until police show up.
So a trooper comes but he don't do nothin, he doesnt ask for info. or anything. He jus gives us each a piece of paper and says if we want a report we have to fill those out and send em to Austin. Well, that doesn't help me seein' as how she don't got insurance. Trooper leaves.
So her daughter, that went out with Jesse, says it's her car and that she has a job and will pay for all the damage to my truck. I believe she works at Taco Bueno so it may take awhile to pay for this. Argh!
I sho' am glad I know who they are and where they live otherwise I would be soooooooo screwed over. I hate drivin' a busted truck. It needs at least a new bumper and grill. I dunno if there was anything under the hood messed up since I can't open the hood. :(
Diligent Dave is definately depressed.

your insurance should fix the damage. It is up to them to get the blood from the tunips.
At least that is how my insurance works.

My insurance won't pay for it, I only have liability. Wait a sec, I think it will pay if an uninsured driver his me....hmmmmmm.......
I think it'll be easier jus' havin' her pay, I do not like dealing with insurance companies.

You also won't have to worry about your rates going up either if she pays for it. Check into it though. Insurance companies can be your best friend or a total nightmare.

Yeah that's another reason I don't want to tell the insurance company about it. My insurance is already 95 a month for a 95 Dak Sport with a 2.5, I'm 18 and I don't have any tickets.
One of my friends dads owns a body shop, so I should be alright.

Insurance probably will go up but it is their job. Go to them, give them the info and her contact information. They will hound her a$$ for the money and see to it your truck is fixed

Dude!! Almost the same thing happened to me, sept I was in a sweet 87 GT stang and I was turning left at a light and the lady had floored it to beat the yellow light and creams my car spinning it around. Well I get out and it was some mesican lady and she said the exact same thing that other lady said..."OMG I'm sorry, I have no money to fix this what am I going to do I don't even have insurance"...and the cops found out she also didn't have a driver's license. What sucked is the cops charged me for running the red light and her for no license all that other stuff it was like they just totally over looked it. Then she tries to get all her medical bills and car expenses paid for by my insurance agency. Man I was pissed.
Well what have we learned from all this? F*ckin mexicans stay off the road!! If you can't afford the insurance then quit drivin!
Sorry...still a little mad about the whole thing.
I'll say bye for now while I regain my composure.

It's called uninsured motorist. It's required to have this on your policy so you probably have it. This also covers hit and runs. The insurance will fix your vehicle and if you don't have a ton of claims, your rate won't increase. Unless of course you have Joe-Schmoe insurance. The police officer should have cited her for not having insurance. That's one of the first things they get from both parties up here in Washington State.

There is a place called the Bureau of financial responsibility in most states, when a driver fails to pay for damages they will confiscate all license plates from all vehicles in the resposible parties names until the debt is paid. This happened to a guy I know. His 16 year old daughter was driving his car (no insurance) and hit someone, then she would throw away the bills before her dad would get them. One day he gets a certified letter that he has 30 days to surrender his plates from all of his vehicles or pay the damages. Needless to say she was in a world of crap. It may be worth checking into to see if your state has some sort of agency to help you. Good Luck!!

I was driving my 99 dak down the road and this lady rear ended me. I said "$h!t my new one is on order and now I have to get this one fixed." We pulled off the road and looked at the damage. Just a few scrapes and scratches on my truck "relief" Her bonneville had 2 busted headlights, a broken grille, and the hood was popped. Thank goodness for the height of 4 wheel drive and a trailer hitch receiver! She got a failure to stop in a safe and assured distance ticket. I didn't get my truck fixed. Nothing major wrong.

I got rearended by a chick in a Mercedes a couple of months ago. Her Mercedes was totalled and I just needed a new rear bumper and seat (I somehow bent it). The bumper looks great but Abbra put a big scratch in the side of the truck and the seat is still not in. When the seat comes in (its been 3 months) they are supossed to fix the scratch. Nothing like being a victim!

Mike, a cop cannot write you a ticket for running a red light unless they actually saw you run it..regardless of what you may have seen or heard, that is how it is.

Well the deal was I turned left cuz the light turned yellow and I was in the middle of the intersection and I had to get outta there before the light turned red and the other lanes on the other side, the left and middle had come to a complete stop. I didn't see anyone in the right lane at all so I started to go and she floored it. I told the cops this and he said well it sounds like you both ran the red light, I don't think I ran it I think she ran it while I was turning. Yes she had the right-of-way but she had to have been going way faster than the speed limit to make it through the light. But I guess the cops had to get me for something, considering I had a valid license, insurance, and registration, unlike that other lady which she had none. To me thats technically driving illegally but I guess since there were passengers in her car that were banged up they had to blame me for something. Oh well life isn't fair, you may not have given me a ticket but here in big D they don't give a rat's ass what your excuses are.

What pisses me off most is that there was an 8 year old girl that wasn't wearing her seatbelt. ANGER!!
