Subject: My suspension is sad :(

Message:
I have a 2001 2wd and i have been hauling alot of stuff on weekends, since i am the only one in the family with a truck(it seems like you have more friends when you can haul stuff) and my rear suspension almost always bottoms out. What is the best way to correct this and still maintain factory performance?

sounds like you might try hauling less weight. check out www.roadmasteractivesuspension.com, this site looks like west coast.marketed by Commodity World Sales Inc. Charlotte N.C. phone 704-523-2646 fax 704-523-0259. you might check it out to see what you think.

I am a little confused on Dakota payload capacity. My truck has a gvwr of 5630 and a payload rating of 1450,I see there is also a gvwr rating of 5970 with a payload of 1750.But I dont see any mention in the option list on how you would order HD payload package or even that it exists,or what it is springs shocks???.I haul a fair bit of wieght around and my Dak is doing OK but I would have got extra payload if I had known it existed.

New shocks will not increase payload capacity. It sounds like you got a dak that was not rated for the capicity you are hauling. My suggestion would be to talk to the dealer and get some afetrmarket spring to help the sagging rear end. Adding springs to help in payload capacity can be a double edged sword. the rest of the drive drain may not be set up for that type of work. You may need to add a tranmission cooler, oil cooler, etc. Also you may have some rear end gearing iisues to deal with.

i've found the best thing to do is get a good hitch and a utility trailer....let them borrow the trailer and you will still have a clean truck.... worked for me....
