Hi,I just got my new 02 QC 5.9 4x4 yesterday and noticed it didn't have the matching spare tire,pocket on back of drivers seat and the really bad one no lighter or ash tray.Is everyone elses 02 they same way.Thanks Brian

What? No ashtray? I'd take it back and complain to the dealer. Those are supposed to come standard.

I noticed that in my 2002, also! No ashtray and no pocket behind the driver side seat. Not to mention crappy cup holders (for 5spd). I guess I should be glad I don't smoke! Although my spare does match.

Thats is the stupidest thing no ashtray on mine either why did they make them like that.. My cupholders work fine mines a QC 4x4 auto 4.7 but not with the bucket seats it with the 40/20/40.

Same here, also no underhood insulation, light in the center console (even though the manual says that it's there). I complained to the dealer and all they could say was that Dodge had made some cut backs.

We got less options on our 02's for sure, but the one that really frosts my a$$ is that there is no light in the center console. It's like a dam cave in there!

Just got a new '02 4.7 Auto QC...I have the pockets,great cup holders, a light in the center console,but no ash tray. Could care less though.

Well I have a 02 4.7 auto. And no ashtray or lighter either. Spare tire matches also. The cup holders seem to work great also.

Well it did make me wonder about no ash tray, not complaining though, I have never smoked before and I'll be dammned if some one tries to smoke in it, I won't even eat in it. I'm not to fond of the adjusting cup holders on the 40/20/40 bench they seem like it could loosen the grip on the cup on a turn and tip the cup.

I have 2 2002's 1 qc 4x2 auto and 1 cc 4x3 auto no ash trays you have to ask for the smokers package. matching spare tire not wheel, no light in storage bin or underhood. bucket seats in both cup holders are great 2 adjustable and one big one for big gulps. bad cup holders must be poor in stick shift trucks. no pockets in the seats either.

I was also dissapointed for the '02 in the lack of rear pockets on the bucket seats. However, I love the console, I have the big console with my 5spd and it is very user friendly. Plenty of room for CD's, well almost and enough cup holders and small storage areas. I was shocked to not see an ash tray or lighter. I do not smoke, esp not in my new Dak, but there is not even an option for one or a place that one might be. Very strange indeed. Where I place my seats, far back, I have no real passenger room for my back seat. I will probably keep them folded up. I was trying to put my rear sub box in so that it fit under the seat and made the seats still useful, but I will take more measurements when I get home. My subs require almost 1.5 cu ft of air space so we'll see. I miss my truck, been 2 weeks since I have driven it. Working offshore really sucks when you just bought a badass truck.

My 02 doesnt have underhood light. Also the single cupholder is ridiculous. I have the 5 spd and bench. My 2000 had two pull out cupholders in the 20 part of the bench, what Dodge couldnt spare the 2Censt and put that in too. I might get a 2000 center part and put that in so i have 3 holders. Also when i got my truck the interior lights and cab light didnt work. They didnt even put a fuse in the hole. I had to buy one for it.

This is the result of beancounters being put in charge of product development.
While the big three seek to "de content" their products to save a buck, the foreign companies are expanding every so resolutely into Big 3 market share. The are adding more features and options while holding the line on price. No wonder they pretty much own the family car segment of our market. Are pickups next? Probably, based on past track records.
Just read where Honda is coming out with a 3/4 size SUV.
ALready they seek to turn out more Oddesy minivans in their new factory in Alabama.

The 2002's that I've seen have steel driveshafts instead of aluminum, not sure if it makes alot of difference, also the two-tone SLT's don't get chrome bumbers anymore.

I was going to ask about this, but there is NO ash tray. That kinda sucks, I do not smoke, but it's a great place to put change. Instead of those lame vericle slots in the console.

Hmmm, but we did get fender flares on the 2wd's, and air conditioning was standard.
My only complaint is the cupholder (5-spd/no console) like someone else said, the pull out cup holders of the 20 part was great...what happened to that?
could care less about an ashtray, kinda made about the non-matching spare wheel, but most cars don't have one, so thats not a big deal.
I remember the auto model's cupholders were great, but they didn't but any time into the 5-spd's

I would have to say that I like the options, although I haven't looked for the pocket on the seat (I'll have to do that), but as for the ashtray thing, mine doesnt have one (which I dont smoke so no big deal), but I would like to know about the light in the center console, that would have been nice to have, especially since it's in the owners manual!!!

That is one of the first things I noticed after I brought it home from the dealer and really started checking everything out was only one seat pocket and no lite inside center console, which seems pretty lame to me!

The ashtray is a no-charge option. If you wanted it, all you had to do was ask during ordering.
Check www.kbb.com and there'll be a listing of the options and what's included (I had no suprizes with my '02)

I just purchased my new 2002 Quad Cab 4x4 on Dec 26th 2001. My truck is the SLT+ Loaded to the hilt. The spare wheel is steel not aluminum. Pocket is only on rear side passenger front seat, no ashtray or lighter that would be smoker pkg only. also no insulation under hood, and no mercury hood light, I think I may buy that and install myself. I have the 4.7 multi speed 45rfe. Infinity system. 3:92 trac lok. But i am glad to not have the full time 4 wd. I like my shift on the fly.

It is not that I dont like AWDrive, I just prefer to be able to select when I want to go into 4 wd. My boss has a 2001 Dak QUAD CAB with all wheel drive and he said it is ok, if he had to do it all over again it would be the shift on the fly. But overall he is very happy with his Dak. Maybe if I was in a State with more snow, ice, I may want it but in Washington State we dont see much snow anymore.
