I was doing an oil change and was checking everything underneath the truck while the oil was draining.

I noticed that there is less than an inch of space between the lower control arm and the bumpstop. Is this normal? The truck is a QC, 4.7, 4WD.

I had a Jeep Cherokee prior to this truck and there was at least 3 inches of travel between the spring seat and the bumpstop. Is it just an IFS/ torsion bar thing? My Jeep had a solid front axle and coil springs.

Looking for enlightenment on IFS/torsion bar suspension. Thanks.

i noticed the same thing 7 months ago. I am hopeing that these are progresive bumstops that are soft at first and get denser the more it travels. The truck has very little articulation. I tuck my truck trues alot of man made burms and it was easy to a wheel of the ground. My old Toyota 4Runner is IFS with torsons bars up front and it has about about 5-6 times as much articulation. I do not think off roading was a real priorty for DC in requards to their Dakota design!
