I've had my 2001 QC since May 2nd and it has racked up enough little annoyances that I've scheduled a service appt for next week to have them checked out.

Want to verify if anyone else has these minor problems and if so, what was your fix:

1)Groaning or creaking from the front end when slowly applying the brakes (ex: pulling slowly into a parking spot, applying brakes, almost coming to a stop, so I won't hit the garage wall)

2)Rear slider rattles when opened

3)When opening front doors, they seem to be forced into the second stop point, no hesitation at the first stop point, they swing too freely

4)May have missed this upon pre-pickup inspection:
16x8 wheels showing blotched finish or 'bubbles' on two wheels.

Minor issues for sure, almost hate to lose the truck for a day, but what the hey, wanna take care of these items now before the list gets too long.

2001 Q/C 4.7 4X4 yeah, I have the same noise coming from my brakes doing the same thing you have been doing. I thought this was caused by the breaks being new. They don't shudder or fade so I'm not too worried about it. We need a mechanic to read this thread and give their opinion.

Hey Glynn:

That brake thing, probably a 'feature' from DC instead of a problem.

4500 miles, has done it since day one, still does it, yet brakes work fine otherwise

If nothing posted here before next Thursday, I'll post what the service dept has found.

Same here. I just replaced the pads 2 weeks ago. I have 7500 miles on the truck. The rotors were not smoothe when i took them off. Kinda bumpy, so I had them cut and installed new Raybestos pads. The annoying gritty shuddery feeling went away, but I feel it starting to come back. I think its just a case of really crappy rotors

I get the groan with the front brakes when applied slowly and lightly. Dosen't seem to effect the braking ability.

I just picked up my '02 QC 4x4 from the dealership this morning (had skid plates installed)... The only problem it (and no they didn't fix it) has is some extra engine noise that I've seen other people in these boards have had. I thought it could be the lifters, but they called it "spark knock" and said that if I wanted it to go away I should put some better gas in it for a tank or two. It also could be that they don't put any sound deadening stuff under the hood anymore! (my '96 was way quieter) Also I put in a K&N airfilter at the time the sound started so that might have something to do with it!

Too many variables. If I were more interested and had the time I'd put the old air filter in and see if that was the culprit.

One thing I had hoped they'd look at was the door pillar panels (below where the shoulder belt attaches to the side) - I'm a bigger sort and the panels move and flex on me when I push on them. I don't want them to break when it's 10 below zero out this winter!

I haven't heard any brake sounds though.

Break groan when inching up to a complete stop. Normal. Characteristic of disc brakes. Be glad you don't have four wheel disc if you can't stand the noise!
