So, what's the deal with these. From what I've read there were only 5000 Intrepids, Neons and Dakotas that came with this package. Mine is a 2001 Datoka with a regular cab, short box, 4.7L engine, and all of the bells and whistles.
The article I read made it sould like these would be difficult to get- will that help to increase / preserve it's retail value?

I've got one.
Sounds like your truck is very similar to mine except for the motorsport package. Mine has the 4.7L, auto, 3.55LSD, and almost all the bells and whistles. I got the truck in flame red, and the package gave me black wheels with machined edges, yellow lettering on the tires, matching spare, chrome grill, red bumpers (slightly different than the sport bumpers), motorsport edition side decals, and alot of free dodge stuff like cooler, videos, hat, stopwatch, binoculars, poster, pens, and more that I can't remember now.
Where did you hear that only 5000 were made? I can't find any info on production runs. Someone is selling one that looks exactly like mine on ebay, and they posted a pic if you want to take a look.

Yes, I own a Motorsport series and can't find any info on the truck at all. We would like to sell ours but our local dealer doesn't even want to give us half back on the truck he said was a collectors series. He says now, that the Motorsport series doesn't mean that much. I can't even find a book value on this type of truck. If you could help me it would be appreciated. It is just like the one you discribed. Thanks much.

It's great to hear from some new Motorsports owners. I'll pull up the best old post for you to check out. There was another thread on the V-8 Board you might check out on Search for Dodge Motorsports Limited Edition. There were 1028 Motorsports Dakotas produced in 2001. There were 13 like mine with Black/Reg Cab/4.7/5-speed/3:92. "fastdak" also owns one of those 13. It seems the vast majority were 4.7 5-speeds. They were dealer-ordered only in the Spring of '01, for about a 45 day period, thus the low numbers made.

if you are selling yours, dont trade it in! the stealership will only give you blue book value. these are rare trucks and should be worth alot more.
