Okay...so I got a RC when I wanted a QC. I got it about 4 months ago -- don't get me wrong, I love my truck and everything, but I would just like more room. So I browse the lot with my fiance tonight -- no other customers or anything -- no one comes out. I figure they're in a meeting or something, so ten minutes go by, so I walk inside to work out the details with someone. I mean, I'm young, but I didn't drive on the lot with a 1980 Toyota Pickup that was beat to hell and back while I was wearing beat, dirty clothes or anything -- I drove on the lot in a 01 4x4 SLT Plus with a front brush guard, 2 $150 lights bolted onto it, tinted windows, tonneau cover, alarm system, spray in bed liner, bed mat (not the most expensive of "mods" but it doesn't scream 'this guy's poor' or anything).

The idiots didn't pay me one note of attention. I wondered around for a while, still no help. I'd like to make a note that when I bought my truck, I had to go upto a salesman and say "You want to sell me a truck?" after standing there for 10 minutes with a dumb-founded look on my face. So, 10 minutes later, we left and as we walked by the group of three on our way out (who were just chatting away, laughing and swearing (in the presence of my fiance no less) and having a good old time, and I was like "Thanks for the help" -- no response. Again, I screamed "Thanks for the help" Still no response. So, like every time I go to this dealer, i drove away pissed off but this time, I shined my 200,000 candlepower lights right in their faces as I drove by the showroom (Yeah, I know -- kind of imature, but I was mad and it seemed like a good idea at the time).

Anyway, that's my story. This dealer is Century III Dodge and they're supposed to be a five-star dealer. Come on now, what do they have to pass to get that, a cleanliness test or something?

I'm sorry, but I've had much better luck at Ford dealerships -- I'm probably going to trade my truck in on a 03 F-150 ext. cab in a year or something. I'm done with dealing with morons.

Had the same thing happen at a Chevy dealer. I was all set to buy a TrailBlazer, showroom wasn't all that busy, took a lap around the lot looking at them, went into the showroom, opened the door to one and test-sat it, got out, stood around for a couple of minutes, took another lap around the lot and not once did anyone even say "boo" never mind "can I help you?"

5 days later I wound up buying my Dakota.

The power of the free market is that you can buy wherever you want. If this dealer treats you like something he just scraped off his shoe, there are probably 2 others within 20 miles or so that would be glad to help you.

Good Luck.

DeaPee, Go to www.4adodge. Click on search dealer inventory. click on new vehicles. the dealer locator page will appear. under dealer name type in Galeanas Van Dyke Dodge. I buy all of my trucks from them. I know that you live in a different state, but you can make an internet purchase. They sell a lot of trucks there.

I wouldn't lump all Dodge dealers by what you have been experiencing. It all boils down to how the mgmt. of that particular dealership decides to run their business. I agree with Joe & JustRed, go somewhere else or the internet. I went to Bedford Chrylser/Dodge in Bedford, PA and could not have been treated better. www.bedfordchrysler.com Good luck.

If I were you, I wouldn't have spent the money with them in the first place. I mean if they dont want to help you out...they dont want your business. I dont have patience for things like that, I guess that's why I shopped on line, found exactly what I wanted and what I was willing to pay, and THEN went to the dealers. Screw the salesman BS...If they wanna sell you a truck, they should at least be helpful....

Ive been to TOO many dealers and walked out because of either dealer attitude, or they didnt have what I was there to buy.

You've definately had a bad experience with that dealership, and frankly, it would be the last time I went there....they dont deserve your money.

As far as buying a RC instead of the QC like you wanted...well...thems the breaks. Never settle. There's always someone else out there willing to make a deal, or get waht YOU want...not what the dealer needs to get rid of.

I've had poor experience with not only Dodge Dealers but GM dealers as well.

I feel that the sales people look at who is on their lot (how they are dressed, age group) and decide from there who they will help and who they ignore.

For example, my dad was looking for a used vehicle so my parents and I drove to Courtesy Chrysler of Calgary, Canada and in about 5 minutes, we had a sales person ask us if we needed help. He was very helpful and we test drove at least 4 cars before settling on a 1998 Voyager.

On the other hand, when I was looking for a used Dak, I went to two dealerships, Shaw GMC and Eastside Dodge of Calgary (by myself). Both times, I was ignored by the sales staff (walked around the lot for at least 30 minutes).

Similiar to DeaPee, I was well dressed, I pulled up in a 1998 Plymouth Breeze that was very clean, but the only downside was that I young looking.

I had to go into the sales office and let them know that I was interested in a vehicle on their lot before they moved out of their chairs.

Dodge of Bellevue in Bellevue, WA is truly about as bad as they come. Maybe sales are just too good with all of the 0% financing and free extended warranties goin' around. Just wait when things start to really buckle down. They'll be at your feet.

I guess, for the meantime, we'll just have to go BMW or LandRover or something. :-) I'm thinking about trading my 2K Quad Cab 4x4 in for a different brand of vehicle. Going to have to break down and get the entry level BMW, Mercedes, or something with decent service. I've always loved trucks and SUVs but damn I'm tired of this. What's worse than having a truck that has to be in the shop all of the time? A truck that has to be in a shop that has terrible service. I've been to a couple of dealers. Short of driving a couple of hours to another one, I'm out of luck. I have to bring it in too often.
Oh well, I hope y'all have better luck. Nothing like having such a gigantic, 'toss and buy new', market to keep pathetic service and quality around.

Take care.

Well, I'm going to try and discuss matters with the General Manager down there. I stopped down today when I was done with work to ask, and he leaves every day at 5:00. I don't want him to "give me a good deal" or anything like that. I just want him to get the one sales manager with the bad mouth to apologize to my fiance.

I think an apology from him would mean more to me than anything they can offer me -- don't get me wrong, I'll take a free truck, but that's not going to happen.

Now, come on, I'm a blue-collar worker, and I don't even swear around women -- ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M AT WORK.

Anyway, when I went down there today, wearing my Kenny Ross Ford uniform right after work, it was a different story. The second I walked in the door, someone asked me if I needed help -- idiots. Then I started asking questions about the general manager -- the sales manager from last night was right there with a different look on his face -- I guess they think I "know some people" or something (maybe I do, and I just don't know it).

You guys are right though about how I can't rule out all Dodge dealers because one is a little less-than-satisfying to me. Thanks for all the advice.

I've had both good and bad experiences, even at the same dealership.

...one guy couldn't figure out what I wanted after I told him. Another just didn't get that "I'm not expecting to buy for two months" and wanted me to drive out TODAY even when I said I'd atleast need a night to sleep on it

That's why I love dealing with the fleet guys. They're the most straight up "here's what I got, here's the price" ones. I've had good luck with them.
