Message: I have a 2000 QC 4.7 w/180 degree thermostat. It works great during trips but in stop and go driving, the temperature rises to 210. I turn on the A/C to start the auxillary fan and it brings the temperature down. Is there a way to put a switch in place to manually turn on the auxillary fan?

Message: Your coolant level might be low or you may have a leak, or the cap may not be holding pressure, I'm probably wrong but just a couple things ta check for free or cheap. oh yea the t-stat is that old

Message: Sounds like a bad thermostat. Was it not doing this before you changed it out? Could it be installed upside down?

Message: If ou found the ground wire that the computer uses to turn on the relay then you could wire a switch in parallel to ground to turn it on manualy.

Message: I am leaning more towards the thermostat (RobertShaw), it is has been installed since August 2000. I will check the cap, I know there are no leaks as I check under the hood and on the ground wherever I park. I will check the new thermostat (hot boiling water in pot) to verify it works correctly before installing.
