Subject: Is the dealer at fault? IP: Logged
Message: Ok here is my dilemma, I ordered a 2002 Dakota sport plus cc 4x4, 4.7L w/3.92's and most of the options, one option that i didn't want was the infinity stereo, I figured I don't mind the normal one and if I can save the $475 (sticker price) I could do without, but anyways my new truck just got in I was checking it out and man that thing is sweeet, but I noticed that they still added the infinity stereo, if I can prove to them (my old paper work that they have) that I didn't want the stereo, will I still get charged for it? or will they offer to take it back to the factory and have me wait even longer?

Message: Here's my take:
I've been following your postings about getting your new truck. It seemed like it went from 5 weeks to about 10 days to delivery. They probably had a truck ordered for stock that matched your needs, except for the stereo and tried to help you by getting you into that unit. If I were you, I would talk to them abou the stereo dilemma and work out a deal, but they did get you a truck pretty darn quick.

Message: I thought the same thing and you can count on me bringing it up but it only has 1 mile on the odometer, I ordered it Nov. 15 and the salesman said it arrived at the dealership Dec 7th. yeah that was pretty quick, I talked to the salesman's manager while the salesman was on vacation he told me how it wouldn't be delivered until next year, so I told him that the first salesman that I was dealing with told me it went from 6 weeks down to 4-5 and that if I don't get it before the end of the year like the other guy said, he lost a sale, so he said he'll put an immediate delivery on it so it won't sit at the plant (it sounds like they didn't want to give me that 100,000 mile warranty either).
Oh yeah and the sticker does say this vehicle was especially built for (my name) that's one of the things that make me think it was delivered and built for me, but they could have bumped back the odometer and re-printed a new window sticker, who knows, Thanks for the reply and I will see how much info I can dig up on this thing

Message: Does the window sticker say "Specifically Built For ____." If it doesn't...then it wasn't.

Message: Yea it does say it was built specially built for (My Name) I wouldn't really mind having the better radio but they could of at least put the controlls on the steering wheel, that's half the reason to get the radio upgrade.

Message: I don't think the steering wheel audio controls are a part of the Infinity system. It's a seperate option.

Message: Maybe they made a few last minute changes to an existing order, which is fine, and simply missed the radio portion. I would talk to them, work out a 50/50 deal or tell them to eat it. They messed up your order, so why should you bite the bullet?

Message: Are you sure? The option for $475 is for "eight speakers in six locations." I know because that is what I ordered for my truck.
