I have no body side molding on my 98 regular cab, and I want something. I can't use the Pep Boys stick on stuff because the side has two pointed high spots and a valley between them, so no flat spot to stick a regular molding. I have seen the bottom-half metal option and don't need to go that far. Was there a stock option for a simple molding that I can get from Dodge to protect from dings?

Yes there is I bought it for my '01 CC and it's black. If you paint it to match it looks great. It's about $50 per side for the door and another $48 for the box.
I had mine color matched and painted at a body shop because the black looked like crap on 2 tone CC with flares.
Be careful, you will have to cut it to length!
