i was just wondering if anyone knows where i could find informaton on 91 indianopolis dakotas?
like how many were made and ways to tell if they are true or not.any info on them would help.

I think you might be a little confused the Ram was the truck released with the Indy 500 option but that was later like in 95-6 or something. Here in London ON our dearlership had some special edition Gen iii Daks that featured the names of the Indy drivers on the doors with some special graphics and a roll bar. We had the Patrick Carpentier one it was RED.

no i'm not confused because i have a 91 indianapolis dakota a just want to find out if it is the real thing or not,that is why i'm looking for more info on it.from what i have found out so far it is the real thing and was bought new from indianapolis indiana.

I remember the Dakota having a Indy package, but that was in 1987. Chrysler supplied a whole fleet of vehicles for the 1987 Indy 500 and the Chrysler LeBaron was the actual pace car with Mr. Carroll Shelby doing the driving duties.
The 1996 Dodge Ram also had a Indy package.

He is correct, the Indy Edition Dakota was in 87, not 91. They were red with multi-colored stripes down the side and came with a light bar in the bed with a set of Bosch off-road lamps. Maybe someone put an 87 stripe kit on a 91.

on this page is a dakota that has the same decals and shade of red,only mine is two wheel drive extended cab without the rollbars.

Well that is a first. I don't think that I've ever seen a '91 Indy Dakota. Must be very rare, assuming the one Jon has is genuine. I would interested to see if the local dealer can still get all of the decals.

Yes there was a '91 Indy Dakota. It was red with the whip stripe and a V8.
Go to ebay and type in `Dakota Indy`. The dealer brochure will come up.
I just bought an '87 trackside version.
And the most popular one was the `96 Ram.
