Subject: how to boost hp? IP: Logged
Message: hi, i'm new to this forum and just got a 2wd '98 ext cab dak. it's a measly 4 cyl and im using it as a daily driver. it's a great truck...but i would sure like a bit more power. i've done some reasearch and found out that it has about 120 horsepower. i was wondering what were the easiest ways of bumping that hp up a bit without comprimising gas mileage too much? i'm thinking custom intake, exhaust, maybe a gear ratio change? thanks for the help.

Message: I always thought a turbo setup, modified from a fwd would be a stellar addition to the down on power, truck 4 banger. I can't remember if the truck motor is based on the old style 2.2 or the newstyle 2.0/2.4l, Either way there are many supliers out there building sc and turbo kits for the frontdrivers, so a conversion for your truck might not take too much work. If you want to talk turbo I'd try and get in touch with Bernd (sp?) he seems to know what he is doing.
